The leaves were falling, fast:
they tumbled faster than raindrops;
they smacked against our faces.
We paid no attention:
the cold air was our protection
from any outside sources.
Soon, warmness filled our bodies:
lips trembled as they joined
to become one soul: Love.
We spent many nights by my fire:
sipping red wine from cheap glasses,
and vowing this would never end.
I thanked the gods that I met you:
you, the answer to my wishes;
My One Thing to be Thankful For.
Yet just as fast as they came,
the leaves died; so did our love.
Everything about us became icy.
November's smiles became December's tears.
