Airbrushed Image

my image is airbrushed
as it sits on the page
marked "About the Author"
ever crater, every blemish
every nook, every cranny
all swiped away
in the methodical
act of technology
i paid fifty dollars
and look where it got me
my teeth are whitened
my eyes are lighter
my hair is shorter
my abs are existent
my smile is sincere
even my teardrops
they are invisible
so i can only hope
and pray
for the day when
they can airbrush a soul
